[build] Compile and link with POSIX thread support
This is not needed on most platforms, but on Alpha
appears to be necessary in order to have a working
std::tr1::shared_ptr. Without this, it fails due
to a failed internal glibc assertion while locking
with a pthread mutex during shared_ptr construction.
