as tight as possible. Files we don't handle shouldn't be skipped.
- fonts.alias is not created automatically, so don't remove it.
- create fonts.encoding with mkfontdir using -e X11_ENCODINGSDIR.
On platforms not following the X11R6 loayout this might need to
be overriden.
- Fix type1inst calls.
- Modify packages which installed fonts.alias before to actually
include it in the PLIST and bump the revisions accordingly.
- Modify xorg-fonts* packages to use FONTS_DIRS.* to build indices
at run time.
Discussed with wiz and jlam.

developer is officially maintaining the package.
The rationale for changing this from "tech-pkg" to "pkgsrc-users" is
that it implies that any user can try to maintain the package (by
submitting patches to the mailing list). Since the folks most likely
to care about the package are the folks that want to use it or are
already using it, this would leverage the energy of users who aren't
developers.

While here, relinquish MAINTAINERship of this package -- I no longer use
(non-macos-x) Unix on the desktop anywhere, so I don't have any way to test
this adequately.

Convert most MESSAGE files to new syntax (${VARIABLE} gets replaced,
not @VARIABLE@, nor @@VARIABLE@@).
By default, substitutions are done for LOCALBASE, PKGNAME, PREFIX,
X11BASE, X11PREFIX; additional patterns can be added via MESSAGE_SUBST.
Clean up some packages while I'm there; add RCS tags to most MESSAGEs.
Remove some uninteresting MESSAGEs.

These are character-cell fonts for use with the X Window System,
created by Jim Knoble. The current list of fonts included in this
package are:

normal and bold weights in small, medium, large, extra-large, and
huge sizes, as well as an extra-small size that only comes in
normal weight. Comes in the following encodings:
ISO-8859-1 (Latin1, Western European + Icelandic)
ISO-8859-2 (Latin2, Eastern European)
ISO-8859-9 (Latin5, Western European + Turkish)
ISO-8859-15 (Latin9, Western European + Euro Symbol)
Modd
A fixed-width font with sleek, contemporary styling. Normal and
bold weights in a 10-point (6x11) and a 12-point (6x13) size.
ISO-8859-1 encoding only.
