From ccf3e21d3655c6527f098e28f334faa1df6e9b0e Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: wiz Date: Fri, 13 Jan 2006 18:17:23 +0000 Subject: Initial import of p5-Text-CharWidth-0.04: This is a module to provide equivalent feature as wcwidth(3) and wcswidth(3). This also provides mblen(3) equivalent subroutine. mbwidth() and mbswidth() are provided subroutines corresponding wcwidth(3) and wcswidth(3) in C language. The prefix "mb" expresses that they handles "multibyte character" in C meaning, i.e., character encoding specified by LC_CTYPE locale. These subroutines are used to get the width of characters on terminal. Though most characters have width of 1, there are exceptions. Fullwidth characters are characters with width of 2. Most of east Asian characters such as Hiragana, Katakana, Hangul, Han Ideogram are fullwidth. Combining characters are characters with width of 0. Unicode has many combining characters like diacritical marks. There are languages which need combining characters such as Thai and Vietnamese. Thus, if you would like to format international texts on terminal, you will have to be aware of variation of character width and will want to use this module. --- textproc/p5-Text-CharWidth/DESCR | 20 ++++++++++++++++++++ textproc/p5-Text-CharWidth/Makefile | 15 +++++++++++++++ textproc/p5-Text-CharWidth/PLIST | 1 + textproc/p5-Text-CharWidth/distinfo | 5 +++++ 4 files changed, 41 insertions(+) create mode 100644 textproc/p5-Text-CharWidth/DESCR create mode 100644 textproc/p5-Text-CharWidth/Makefile create mode 100644 textproc/p5-Text-CharWidth/PLIST create mode 100644 textproc/p5-Text-CharWidth/distinfo diff --git a/textproc/p5-Text-CharWidth/DESCR b/textproc/p5-Text-CharWidth/DESCR new file mode 100644 index 00000000000..81fb03eff26 --- /dev/null +++ b/textproc/p5-Text-CharWidth/DESCR @@ -0,0 +1,20 @@ +This is a module to provide equivalent feature as wcwidth(3) and +wcswidth(3).
